[Green-energy policy hurts America]
Moral superiority. You can’t burn it. You can’t eat it. It won’t heat your home or run your car. You can’t buy or sell it. But in America, we have a green energy policy based primarily on moral superiority.
Moral superiority follows no exacting science or engineering to determine which energy policy is morally superior. China’s Cultural Revolution was inspired by a sense of moral superiority. Millions of people died, and the survivors saw a nation relentlessly harm itself and its future all in the name of moral superiority.
America does not have a Cultural Revolution, but we have new policies, such as green energy, whose foundation is little better. When energy policy is the province of moral superiority, odd outcomes are likely. The morally superior musings of government officials replace the exacting practice of a petroleum engineer.
