Siemens has begun work on two 50 MW photovoltaic projects in South Africa for Globeleq Generation Limited. They are scheduled to be operational by mid-2014.
The two projects were awarded to Globeleq – the majority shareholder in a consortium comprised of Mainstream Renewable Power, Thebe Investment Corporation, engineering firms Enzani Technologies and Usizo Engineering and local community trusts – under South Africa’s Renewable Energy IPP Procurement Program.
