[DONG and Vestas test 8 MW turbine together ]
DONG Energy and Vestas Wind Systems have signed a cooperation agreement, which provides for the testing of the V164 – 8 MW Turbine. Vestas wants to allow DONG to participate in the testing of the prototype at the site at Østerild, Denmark. Originally, DONG wanted to implement their own demonstration project in Frederikshavn. This is now unnecessary, the company said.
Vestas expects that the first turbine will be installed and commence operation at the test site in Østerild in the second quarter of 2014. If the tests prove successful, further testing and business cooperation could follow.
